MALLORN'S FLINTSTONE (PONCH)
At the French K.C. Championship show on June 3rd I met a dog I'd never heard of and never seen before. I looked around at all the males in the Open and Intermediate classes and was very disappointed. Then I saw this unknown dog walk into the Working class ring and said to myself "If I were judging today - this dog would be my best dog for sure" and when I saw his handler walk out of the ring (with 1st place) I asked her in French "Could I have a copy of your dog's pedigree, please ?" to which she replied "I do not speak french" and I said to myself Oh shit ! for once that I've found a male I really, really like . . . he's not from France. And the owner continued "I'm from Saint Petersburg, Russia". Worse and worse !
I went back to the crates, picked up my catalogue and discovered Mallorn's Flintstone. It only took me those 50 yards to decide that, what the hell - I never choose a dog because he's a champion or because I like the owner . . . I choose a dog because my Labrador guts tell me that this one's for me and that one was going to be for me . . . for Bubbles (Have One On Me of T.W. daughter of Ch. Carpenny Made A Million X Ch. Champagne Celebration of T.W.) He had what is so difficult to find nowadays - a masculine head with a gentle and tender expression. In fact "Ponch" turned out to be a multiple champion.
Bubbles was 2 months overdue with her season and "Ponch" had long since returned to Saint Petersburg. But flights exist and thus Ponch came to stay for ten days in November. I had paid an itinerant Echograph specialist to come and she announced seven for Bubbles.
Sadly Bubbles in fact had eleven and although one clearly died several days before the whelping, 2 died during the whelping (I was not anticipating more than the 8 I had, and sadly one died at 4 days).
Anyone interested in one of the males can contact me by Messenger. The bitches are all bespoken.

PETER'S BURGER OF T.W. (Pepé) 15 weeks tomorrow - left for the 2,000 km haul to Sofia in Bulgaria early this afternoon. I'm going to miss this sweet boy, always sociable, happy and ready for a hug. He's going to make Polly happy and she's going to make him happy and with some training and a bit of luck he'll be a super show-dog and have loads of pretty girls to seduce when he gets a bit older. (He's already seduced two today !) Way to go dear boy, I miss you already.❤️ |

7 Weeks/Semaines
If I needed proof of the wonderful milk supply that Bubbles provided for her puppies - the weight chart today supplies it, when you see that since the weaning a week ago the puppies have put on only half the weight of the previous weeks.
This photo today is dedicated to their wonderful Mummy 💔
6 Weeks/Semaines
And some pre-benching for my dissipated little group of babies !
They'll be 6 weeks tomorrow night.
5 Weeks/Semaines
Here are the 4 boys - five weeks old tonight (early tomorrow for the Polar Bear).
First time outside and feeling a bit lost alone on the bench in the cold. But the light is better than indoors.
AND THE GIRLS!
31 Days/Jours
31 days' today - [one month]
Amazing to watch their inter-reaction together and observe their play, their attitude with the toys and how they communicate with me.It's all going so fast . . . I have trouble keeping up !
The sweetness and the innocence of a baby Labrador
An expression to melt your heart
Soft and warm and squishy to hold in your arms
Watching my face with quiet puzzled confidence and I can feel the little otter tail wagging gently as she asks herself questions to which, as yet, she finds no answer
4 Weeks/Semaines
FOUR WEEKS' OLD yesterday evening for the Bubbles X Ponch (Have One On Me of T.W. X Mallorn's Flintstone) babies.
Pale Blue was pushing the walls of the whelping box and others were obviously thinking about climbing out . . . so yesterday a new change for them when they hit the ground (no, not literally !) and discovered more space and a mother unable to escape them except when I let her out.
Roughly on 3 kilos each after a week of ups and downs. Everything back to normal now and they're all eating well
3 Weeks/Semaines
Starting to show their personalities. Those who like and those who don't . . . being dumped in a little wooden box to be photographed.
"Don't" wins the referendum !
And
Now well over 5 times their birth-weigh, and starting the egg custard.
Very messy the first few days - until they get the notion of how to lap/eat instead of sucking.
2 Weeks/Semaines
TWO WEEKS already - 14 days - 336 hours - 20,160 minutes . . .
A tiny gleam in the inner corner of every little eye and four wobbly little legs carrying each one of them around.
Time to remove the pig-rails (aka roll-over bars). I spend more time running to extricate them than doing anything else.
126 nails to cut tomorrow . . . .
10 Days / Jours
So there are seven, 4 dogs and 3 bitches. All doing well. They doubled their birth-weight at 6 days and by 9 days, yesterday, were over a kilo. Active but not noisy, enterprising and voracious - they are all doing very well.

7 Days / Jours
nteresting to see that the only one who hasn't doubled was the biggest at birth and the 2 who've put on the most weight were the 2 smallest at birth and the very last born. I haven't used the punishment box but I spent hours this week branching the tinies on the best teats and holding them there.
It has certainly paid off - I'm proud of them !
Irritated by my inevitable "Golden Labradors" under the infra-red lamp - I unplugged it for 3 minutes this afternoon to get a better image and a fairer idea of the colour of the puppies.
Six would appear to have inherited Bubbles' warmer tint and one Ponch's lighter more uniform shade.
Pigmentation coming in a little more every day. I hope they all inherit their mother's, grand-mother's and great-grand-mother's wonderful inalterable jet-black nose.

5 Days / Jours
DAY 5 (almost) The seven babies are growing well - 2 put on 100 grammes yesterday.
Pigmentation showing its' nose, or should that be the other way round ?
Who could imagine babies of not yet 5 days being obese ?
Overweight at not yet 5 days' old ? What does Bubbles' milk contain ?
Enriched full fat cream . . .- it's like this every time.
