PRIVATE EYE OF T.W. (WATSON) I loved the way a puppy, who's never been out of the garden and has hardly ever seen anyone other than me, was 100% happy to walk out of his home with total strangers and climb into their car without a backward glance. Private Eye 🧐 (aka Watson) has gone to join Indian Summer of T.W. (Indie) now 7 years' old, a son of Chatterbox. And, as always, I am just so happy he's gone where there's already a T.W. to greet him and play with him. It would have been terrible after five months of being part of a "dog community" if he had gone where there was no canine company. He has one canine friend and four humans. Long and happy life to my favourite detective. ❤️ |
AT HOME!!!!!!! I don't think Indie has quite yet accepted the idea of this little yellow boy scampering around in his place but he'll end up being glad of the company. In the meantime Watson is very obviously HAPPY

PILLAR BOX OF T.W. (BOXY) Boxy left for Morges, Switzerland. He has gone to start his new life. He truly is a beautiful little boy but needs his vocal cords removing. Or perhaps my ears ? Like father, like daughter (Poffy), like son (Boxy +) His new family have been warned ! |

7 1/2 Months - Lovely to see that P.D.Q. and Boxy got a surprise visit together. For two puppies who had spent 5+ months of confinement together here before leaving for their new homes in Switzerland it was a joyful reunion and the human participants were just as happy.

The Jewelry discovered Chatterbox, and vice versa, paws-on, this afternoon. He was thrilled, as always, to have puppies with whom to inter-react. 4 puppies coming up to 8 weeks tomorrow with one senior gentleman coming up to 11 years old. In perfect harmony.

A little foray into nature for the Jewelry today. No wind and bright sun but cold, very cold. However, judging by the layer of "substance" that the Jewelry possess, I don't think they suffered. Never have so few eaten so much in so little time !

Jewel has restituated the collars - some of them let's say - which had been hiding inside her for 3 weeks when I finally stopped plaiting new ones for her puppies because she promptly ate them.

A new world for the Jewelry (Mallorn's Flintstone X Jewel In Pure Gold of T.W.) who hit the ground this morning and are turning into bona fide puppies. Darling (grrrrr) Jewel has finally removed all the collars for the third time. It's a good thing I know who's who. What a brat - just like her mother (Champagne Celebration of T.W.) and her half-sister (Have One On Me of T.W.). Genetics I don't doubt. Maybe DDC could check on the availability of a DNA test for collar swallowers ?

The Jewelry are progressing well - when there are only four of you, you develop with your paws in your pockets. Little RED is not catching up but is round, happy and growing correctly. His siblings have decided that he's just a pillow. He will doubtless be "Pillow something" when I choose a name for him !

All that while extricating two of Jewel's babies who had had nothing better to do during the night than block each other under the rails. Stalemate situation and I nearly needed a saw to drag them out. A little early to remove the rails but I may have to do so.

I'm still in "anxious mode" with the Jewelry, so still sleeping beside them for another few days to make sure the little red gem doesn't get molested by the big ones.

Day 2 for the Jewel babies. Red is just about holding his own but it's not simple to be so small and Jewel has decided that he's not wearing any collar, whatever the colour. No point in doing the average of the four babies since Red is so much smaller than the other 3 that it makes no sense.

A sad and difficult night - second night in a row with no sleep at all but at least I was sure that Jewel would be whelping.
Yes, but . . . .
But all the effort, stress and expense for FOUR puppies, I might even say 'three and a half puppies' as Red Collar is about half the size of the others. 3 dogs and 1 bitch when I wanted 2 dogs and 3 bitches. With breeding nothing is ever sure.

The four babies. The girl is Fuschia and the 3 boys Royal Blue, Black and Red. Red is tiny but having given him heart massage and mouth to mouth (he was born with his front legs tucked back along his body and it took me an hour to extricate him in a sorry state - no caul, and his tongue pale grey, and no heart-beat for a good five minutes) For that hour I could just put my index in his mouth but couldn't bring his head further forward to help him out.
