03/06/2024 Velvet Eyes Left for his new life this morning. He refused to kiss/lick me goodbye ! Ohhhh ! 
This is Colour Me Black of T.W., born on December 20th 1987. Today the little boy who loved him all those years ago is coming to meet and take home Velvet Eyes of T.W. (the little yellow boy). This is what makes being a breeder happy - not trophies and ribbons but this.
Colour Me Black was the son of Wetherlam Blackberry and Apple Of My Eye of T.W. (the daughter of Ch. Kupros Lucifer and Velvet of T.W.)

05/06/2024 Very Truly Yours of T.W. (Viggo) In 2003 Upper Hand of T.W., born on January 8th, went to live in Latvia with Ivars Grunte who came to pick him up in Champignelles. In 2012 Ivars came to Sciez to take back home to Latvia Hadron’s Collider. Today he came to Saint Hippolyte to scoop up Very Truly Yours of T.W. and they fly out of Marseille early tomorrow morning, and back to Latvia. The nest is now empty - the puppies have all gone. |

Tiffany is still losing this milk today. She - a primipare bitch - had milk three weeks before the whelping. Puppies not well at first and « as a joke » I said that the milk had probably lost it’s shelf life and was out of date. Twice I separated her and bottle-fed - then it was back to normal and gradual separation to be fully completed at 6 weeks. But 6 weeks was yesterday and she’s just not « drying up ». I have never had a situation like this before and it’s difficult to comprehend

Puppies doing fine. It looks as though they’ll hit the 10 X birthweight spot on their 6 weeks, as I want - except tiny-at-birth Royal Blue who has done a great eating exploit over the last 2 weeks and has reached his 10 X b/w at 5 weeks. Way to go little boy !

They’re all doing pretty well - normally I’d be rehabilitating the « Punishment Box » but with only five puppies and a dairy-dam-dog (aka « flowing canine mummy ») it seems a bit pointless. But there’ll be no other way to even out the weight disparity. Doubling the birthweight at one week is going to be the easiest accomplishment of the week

And 68 hours and 30 minutes after the arrival of No. 6, who was dead . . . came No. 7, a yellow boy of 360 gms and obviously dead for at least the last 3 days. Now if it had been possible to count accurately the number of whelps on the very poor X-ray that the so-called (self-called ?) specialist Repro Vet did at 54 days - I would certainly have had a C-section last wednesday and there’d be seven puppies this morning, and not five. A sad, sad waste of all the effort these two little boys put into becoming puppies to have a joyful life . . . for nothing. No fun to be at the end of the queue when those at the front are being tiresomely slow and difficult. R.I.P.

A very difficult night. After a fruitless night and day - Tiffany decided that the best moment to start whelping would be when I was busy dealing with the other dogs. As with Cachi, I could touch the back legs of an unmoveable first puppy and after what happened to Cachi I decided to give some Ocytocine to Tiffany and try dragging him out. So arrived one tiny yellow boy with a black cheek. Ten minutes later, rushing back from dealing with Star and Blue, I discovered two black boys - one totally inert without placenta or caul and the other very much alive and obviously number 3. I dumped the lively one and gave mouth to mouth and cardiac massage to the lifeless one. It took over an hour to get him going and two hours before he could suck. Then he was on his way. Ocytocine, trips outside to walk Tiffany and calcium and 3 hours later came a girl followed by a second girl 2 1/2 hours afterwards. And sadly after these five there was a nine hour wait with nothing before the 6th puppy arrived but I was unable to reanimate him. RIP little boy, I am so, so sad for you. So there are five puppies : 3 boys (1Y + 2B) and 2 girls (1Y + 1 B). I am now pretty well dead after another 2 nights with no sleep to add to the massive allergy still ongoing. Tiffany is proving to be a careful and loving mother with an excellent milk supply already in place 2 weeks ago.

100 kms again this morning but not only for a progesterone test but also to do a first check to see whether Tiffany is in gestation - 22 days after the first insemination. She is but the level of progesterone has seriously gone down so back there on Thursday. And in the meantime - an 8-hourly progesterone « top-up »
